At Vintage Porch Swings, we love kids and we love kids' rooms. Because we are expecting a new little member of the VPS family in November, we thought we'd share three of our favorite kid's rooms, and what makes them work - including a bed swing!
The Kopachuk's (above) have three girls. When they remodeled their house, each of the girls got to pick a color scheme and something to make their room really special. The oldest wanted a secret passage, the middle wanted monkey bars - and the youngest wanted a bed swing. The swing gives this room a playful feeling, and the custom mural adds energy and a girly touch. The rug on the floor is unexpected and adds to the visual play. Notice the texture of the bedspread. A standard duvet or matelasse would have been lost - or at least overpowered in this room. Instead, the texture makes it the most tactile element in the room. Of all the colors in the mural, would you have pulled out red for the chair? Red is the only color that wouldn't be lost against the pink walls - and it's also very playful.
In our girl's room, there are four matching hanging bed swings. These are the Hartwell style in a custom color. They're all alike so this room doesn't feel visually cluttered, but each of our daughters has her own accessories and space for her personal things. The industrial touches in the room keep it from being too girly, and give visual cues that this is a sturdy area where it's okay to play.
Our daughters Emerson and Eliza sleep on Hartwell models with legs. Elements in this room can grow with the girls into their teen years. (If you'd like a bed swing that doesn't move around, we can put yours on legs or fasten it to the wall with brackets.)
In honor of the baby-on-the-way, we're offering 20% off any standard twin swing in select finishes until Krista's due date on November 5th. Plus, order by October 23rd and we'll guarantee your swing is finished by Thanksgiving!
